Think you need big bucks and a major renovation to add a little more wow factor to your home? Think again. There are multiple ways to change the look and feel of your home without straining your budget or committing to cohabitation with a construction crew for six months. Whether you’re planning to update one room or your entire house, there are several creative and inexpensive ways to make your dwelling a little more glamorous, and you don’t have to be a super do-it-yourself type to do it.

The following are a few tips on how to make it happen:

Play with Color

Painting a room, or even a single wall, is a simple, inexpensive, yet dramatic way to change the entire dynamic of a room. Take inspiration from some of your favorite shades or a decorative accent that’s already in the room you will be painting. If painting walls is too much work, consider painting a smaller item such as a piece of furniture.

Go Green

Bringing the outdoors inside is a great way to add life to a room. Consider mixing some of your favorite plants into your decor. A tree, potted plants or even herbs add so much life and color to the room, as do rocks, water features or other earthy elements. Also consider mixing in some of the outdoor furniture pieces you already have such as wooden Adirondack chairs, rocking chairs, and items made of wicker and rattan, which can give the room an airy and relaxed feel.
